Procedure Description:
Upper eyelid lift is achieved by removal of excessive tissues(usually fat) and sometimes tucking the levator muscle(ptosis repair). The lower lid can have bags and excessive skin removed without a skin incision by use of the CO2 laser.

What To Expect:
Varies with each patient,most people able to return to work in a week as redness and swelling subside.It is an outpatient procedure and most people do normal chores(walking,driving) the next day.

Preprocedure:
If the CO2 laser is used,a skin prep for several weeks is recommended.Most are done under light sedation in my office operating room.

Postprocedure:
Walking and driving within 2 days for the vast majority.Work within a week for most.

By removing the outer layer of damaged skin you allow the deeper skin cells to reproduce, creating a fresh new surface. Exfoliating creams produce only superficial improvement and must be re-applied frequently. Other treatments for minor skin imperfections such as dermabrasion or chemical peels are not precise and provide a more aggressive degree of revision. Most laser skin resurfacing is more precise. Of these only the TRU-PULSE system allows the skin to return to normal in days compared to weeks or months with other lasers.

Preprocedure:
Usually Retin-A is used for 2-3 weeks prior to treatment. Sometimes, a bleaching agent is added.

Postprocedure:
For several days after your resurfacing, your skin will be red, tender and some swelling may occur. I will provide you with instructions on the importance of keeping your skin surface moist and clean. Your success depends on your constant and continued care of your new and precious skin. Although you will not have to hide away while skin heals; after just a few days, cosmetics can cover any lingering pinkness. With TRU-Pulse laser, you will see results in days with a speedier return to work and normal social activities. Your skin will look younger, smoother, more refreshed, softened and rejuvenated after the procedure.
